No-sacrifice gear range. The Shimano Deore XT cassette of the current M8200 series represents the continued evolution of the proven HyperGlide+ shifting system. The sprockets feature new tooth profiles that improve shifting under high loads while remaining smooth, fast and durable.
The strategic use of aluminum and steel alloys not only reduces weight but also enhances durability, ensuring that the 12-speed cassette is robust enough to inspire confidence on the trail regardless of riding style.

Compact drivetrain vs. wide gear range. While the lightweight version with a 9–45 tooth range is ideal for compact drivetrain setups with limited gear ratios and offers increased ground clearance, the wide-range 10–51 tooth variant is the most versatile option in the current Deore XT lineup.
The two cassette versions are matched to the respective RD-M8250 rear derailleur depending on the gradation difference. Combined with a medium-length GS rear derailleur and smaller SM-CRM86 chainrings, the 9–45T cassette achieves a 500% range, while the 10–51T version paired with a long SGS cage rear derailleur reaches a 510% range.
