Pellets or wood? MOON is the first höfats fire basket that works with both! Either fire it up with logs for that traditional campfire feeling, or choose pellets for up to two hours of continuous, smoke-free burning – without refuelling. 

Unique patina: Fire leaves its mark – not only on us, but also on the product. Especially on the black nozzle, it becomes beautifully visible. Over time, the heat of the fire creates a unique patina on its surface.

How wood gasification technology works. Smoke-free fire is the highest art – and with MOON, it becomes reality. The key lies in its double wall, consisting of an inner and outer shell. When air enters, it is divided into three streams:

Two streams pass through the ash tray and heat the fuel inside the fire basket – e.g. wood or pellets

The third stream rises between the inner and outer shell, is heated along the way, and exits through the ring of holes below the opening.

At this point, a secondary combustion takes place, efficiently burning even the smallest wood particles and – especially when using pellets – creating a smoke-free flame.

Step 1: Fill the MOON with pellets, leaving the perforated circle below the opening free (approx. 10-12 kg of pellets).

Step 2: Place 2-3 pieces of kindling wool on top of the pellets.

Step 3: Moisten the wool and the pellets with höfats bioethanol gel fuel.

Step 4: Light the wool, watch the pellets start to burn and after a few minutes you will see the fascinating play of flames.

What is the difference between MOON and MOON All Black? The MOON all black features a completely black look thanks to a PVD-coated nozzle and tall stand, while the classic MOON retains the stainless steel look for both nozzle and tall stand.

Which pellets should I use? We recommend that you use pellets with an ENplus or DINplus quality certificate. The exact wood type of the pellets is of secondary importance.

Can I use MOON indoors? No, the fire basket is only suitable for outdoor use. There you can enjoy a smokeless fire when using pellets, avoiding unpleasant odours and trouble with the neighbours.
