Trail running guide
Choose the shoe, not the hype
Every Rossignol trail shoe shares a balanced 6 mm drop — the difference is what you ask of it. Take Vercors for long days and mixed ground, Vezor when the terrain turns technical and you want speed, and Venosk as the door-to-trail trainer you reach for every week.
Trail running FAQ
What to pack for a 30–90 minute trail run vs 2+ hours?
What to pack for a 30–90 minute trail run vs 2+ hours?
- For a 30–90 minute run: water as needed, your phone/ID and a small snack.
- For 2+ hours: more water capacity, fuel (gels/chews), an extra layer and safety essentials — headlamp, first aid, navigation — depending on conditions.
- For longer runs pair the right shoes with a hydration vest, a soft flask and a packable jacket.
What to wear for trail running in wind and rain without overheating?
What to wear for trail running in wind and rain without overheating?
Wear a moisture-wicking base layer and add a lightweight, breathable shell you can vent, so you block wind and rain without trapping sweat. In mild weather skip heavy layers and keep your legs light with shorts or lightweight tights.
How do I stay visible on trails in low light?
How do I stay visible on trails in low light?
Combine active lighting — a headlamp — with 360° reflective details on your jacket or vest, so you can see the trail and others can spot you from any angle.
How do I prevent blisters on trail runs?
How do I prevent blisters on trail runs?
- Socks: choose nylon or moisture-wicking; avoid cotton.
- Fit & lacing: not too tight, not too loose — use a heel-lock lacing if you get heel slip.
- Hot spots: cover problem areas early with moleskin or soft bandages.
- Friction: a little petroleum jelly on problem spots reduces chafing.
What does heel-to-toe drop mean, and how do I choose?
What does heel-to-toe drop mean, and how do I choose?
Drop is the height difference between heel and forefoot. A lower drop feels more natural but loads the calves and Achilles more; a higher drop feels more protective for the lower leg. Our trail line-up uses a balanced 6 mm drop — choose by run type: Vezor for technical terrain and speed, Venosk for daily door-to-trail training, Vercors for long-distance comfort.
Waterproof or breathable trail running shoes?
Waterproof or breathable trail running shoes?
For most runs breathable shoes are the better default — they vent heat and dry faster after wet sections. Waterproof models help in cold, slushy or snowy conditions, but if water gets in over the collar they drain more slowly.
Rossignol trail running shoes at Evelostore
Rossignol has spent nearly a century building equipment for mountain terrain, and the trail running line carries that same brief onto the footpath: grip you can trust on loose ground, cushioning that still holds up in the last hour, and a fit that stays put on long descents.
The current range is built around three models with a shared 6 mm heel-to-toe drop and 4 mm lugs. Vercors is the endurance option — the highest stack at 32 mm and a roomier fit for long distances and mixed terrain. Vezor is the lightest and most precise of the three at 270 g, made for technical, rugged ground and race days. Venosk sits in the middle as the everyday trainer for rolling trails and door-to-trail runs.
All models are available in men's and women's fits, and the R-SHELL DRY version adds weather protection for cold and wet conditions. Delivery across Latvia and the rest of Europe, with 14-day returns if the fit isn't right.
