Built to work. Not to pose.
Salomon's tactical line is developed by the same team behind their alpine mountaineering boots — then rebuilt for the demands of professional use. Every pair is tested in real working conditions before it reaches your feet. Reservists, security teams, hunters, and outdoor professionals across Europe rely on them every day.

How we utilize Gore-Tex
Salomon tactical boots use Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane to provide a longer-lasting barrier from the elements — water, sewage and commonly occurring chemicals. Not a coating. A bonded membrane that blocks moisture from outside while releasing sweat vapor from inside.
- Waterproof through river crossings and rain marches
- Breathable — feet stay dry, not sweat-soaked
- Tested against field chemicals and contaminants
Stability without fatigue
The 4D Advanced Chassis sits between midsole and outsole and controls lateral foot motion across uneven ground. Less ankle roll. Less fatigue on long days. More stability when carrying weight or moving fast across technical terrain.
- Reduces foot fatigue on 12+ hour shifts
- Controls lateral roll on rocks, roots, loose gravel
- Transfers energy forward, not sideways
Grip on every surface
Salomon's Contagrip® rubber compound was developed for trail running and adapted for tactical use. The same outsole handles wet rock, loose gravel, forest floor, mud, and asphalt — without swapping boots.
- Wet rock and mossy terrain
- Loose gravel, scree, sand
- Asphalt and indoor hard floors
A precise foot wrap
SensiFit™ cradles the foot from midsole to lacing, working with the chassis to deliver a secure fit without pressure points. No hotspots, no heel slip. Built to feel right from the first hour of wear — not the tenth.
- No hotspots on long days
- Secure heel lock, no slip
- Ready from day one, minimal break-in
Common questions
Are Salomon tactical boots actually waterproof?
Are Salomon tactical boots actually waterproof?
GTX models are — they use a bonded Gore-Tex membrane (not a spray coating) that blocks liquid water from the outside while letting sweat vapor escape. You can walk through puddles, wet grass, and light river crossings without your feet getting soaked.
Non-GTX models (like XA Forces Jungle) are designed for hot, wet climates where breathability and drying speed matter more than waterproofing. They dry fast but won't keep your feet dry in rain. If you need waterproofing, look for GTX in the product name.
XA Forces vs Quest 4D — which one is right for me?
XA Forces vs Quest 4D — which one is right for me?
XA Forces is lighter, more flexible, and closer to a trail running shoe in feel. Best for fast movement, training, patrol work, and situations where weight and agility matter more than ankle support.
Quest 4D Forces is a full tactical boot — high cut, stiffer, with the 4D Advanced Chassis for maximum stability. Best for heavy loads, uneven terrain, long days on your feet, and cold or wet conditions. If you carry weight or operate on rough ground, choose Quest 4D.
How should I size Salomon tactical boots?
How should I size Salomon tactical boots?
Most people take their true EU size. If you wear thick tactical or merino socks, or plan to use orthotic insoles, size up by half a size. The SensiFit upper has some give but the chassis does not — too small and you'll feel it on long days.
Unsure? Contact us at info@evelostore.com with your normal EU size and use case — we'll recommend a size.
Is there a break-in period?
Is there a break-in period?
XA Forces and Speed Assault models are ready to wear from day one — they're built on running shoe lasts and feel soft out of the box.
Quest 4D Forces and Toundra Forces are stiffer and benefit from 8–12 hours of wear before a long day in the field. Walk in them at home, then on short outings, then commit to a full day.
Can I wear them in winter?
Can I wear them in winter?
All Salomon tactical GTX models work down to light winter conditions (around −5°C to −10°C) with wool socks.
For deep cold below −15°C — winter patrols, sits in the forest, extended time standing on frozen ground — the Toundra Forces ClimaSalomon Waterproof is the dedicated cold-weather model, rated significantly lower.
